Have an Emergency? NO PROBLEM.
Teeth straightening with relative ease is now possible for adults of any age with Invisalign® clear aligner technology. No longer available to just a few, teeth straightening is now accessible to adult patients whose teeth have moved with age or who didn’t have the opportunity to straighten teeth during childhood. Traditional fixed metal braces are an unappealing thought for many. If you fall into this category, Dickson Street Dental is able to provide Invisalign® treatment that works.
Among the many benefits of Invisalign® for teeth straightening is the fact it is a far more discreet approach towards orthodontic treatment. Although Invisalign® may not be suitable for every patient, a consult with one of the Dickson Street Dental team dentists will answer all your questions. We’ll even share some of our patient success stories!
Invisalign® is a fully removable aligner system. Instead of braces, we supply custom-made clear BPA-free plastic aligners that fit closely over your teeth, gently yet firmly moving them into the correct positions. Gradually over time this creates a straighter smile.
The aligners are virtually invisible once in the mouth. Each set of aligners is worn for approximately two weeks, before you discard them for new aligners. This continues to gently move your teeth until treatment is completed. Treatment times vary according to the complexity of the problems to be addressed. A consultation with our experienced dentist at Dickson Street Dental will provide you with a more accurate treatment time.
The Invisalign® system is very user-friendly. Aligners are virtually invisible and removed for eating and whenever you want to brush and floss.
With Invisalign®, you won’t spend excessive time cleaning around fiddly brackets and wires. You don’t even need to change your diet. Instead, you can continue with everyday life while your teeth are straightened. Most patients find there is virtually no impact on your social, work, or regular daily life.
As part of your Invisalign® treatment plan at our Mount Waverley clinic, we will see you at regular intervals to check treatment is progressing as planned and to provide more aligners. These appointments are brief as adjustments aren’t required as they are for conventional fixed braces.
Invisalign® is best suited for adults, however, in some cases it might be suitable for older teens who can demonstrate a high level of commitment to the daily straightening regime (aligners must be worn 22 hours daily).
Invisalign® can correct a large number of orthodontic problems, including overcrowding and teeth that are out of alignment. Bite problems – such as open bites, crossbites, overbites and underbites – can be corrected too. Invisalign® can also close up or minimise spaces in between teeth.
When you come to see us here at Dickson Street Dental, we will carefully examine your mouth to identify the problems requiring correction. As part of that process, we take photos and use Invisalign®’s professional software to plan treatment step-by-step. The software produces virtual images so you can see how your teeth will move and of course the final results.
Following this step, your aligners are custom-made so you can begin straightening your teeth.

Apart from straighter teeth being easier to clean, there are many other reasons that make Invisalign® a good choice for teeth straightening
Both Invisalign and braces have their own pros and cons. While braces are ideal for those requiring treatment for a severe case of misaligned or crooked teeth, Invisalign is often opted for by adults with slightly crooked teeth who need a more invisible teeth straightening method than conventional braces. The cost of the treatments also varies, helping you make the right decision within your budget.
Teeth straightening using Invisalign can take anywhere between 6 months to a year or more. This depends entirely on how crooked your teeth are. Further, the treatment for each individual may vary. Your dentist will customise a treatment plan for you and inform you of the time that your treatment could take during your consultation.
All orthodontic procedures vary in the time needed to get the teeth moved to the right position. Comparatively, conventional braces take longer owing to the fact that they are recommended for severe cases of misaligned or crooked teeth. Invisalign, on the other hand, can take between 9 and 19 months, depending on the teeth’s crookedness. Invisalign is only recommended in minor misalignment cases.
Invisalign has seen great success in patients who have completed their treatment. 96% of people who have opted for Invisalign as a treatment option have been their desired results.
